A journey into the heart of Tropea, through historic alleyways, spectacular views over the Tyrrhenian and one of Southern Italy's most iconic sanctuaries. A tour combining history, panorama and local identity, designed to truly experience the pearl of the Costa degli Dei.
The Tropea Tour accompanies the visitor through one of the most charming villages in Calabria, built on a cliff dropping sheer to the sea and for centuries a strategic and cultural point in the territory. The experience begins in the historic centre, an elegant and compact urban fabric characterised by alleyways, arches and noble palaces from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, testimony to Tropea's central role as a bishopric and seat of power. The route continues to the absolute symbol of the city, the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola, perched on a rocky spur dominating the sea. Descending towards the sea, the tour includes the beaches at the foot of the cliff, easily accessible from the historic centre. The route continues along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the heart of city life, with artisan shops, panoramic terraces and continuous views over the Tyrrhenian. The visit is completed at the Cathedral of Maria Santissima di Romania, a twelfth-century Norman building. The tour also offers a glimpse of local gastronomic identity, where the Tropea red onion IGP and traditional cuisine tell of an authentic territory.
