A wide, natural beach on the Costa degli Dei: clear sea, sand and rocks, ideal for relaxation and snorkelling.
The Spiaggia di Formicoli, located along the Costa degli Dei between Tropea and Capo Vaticano, is one of the most evocative destinations on the Calabrian coast. An ancient Roman port, it today preserves a unique natural charm: a wide stretch of golden sand interspersed with cliffs and rocky formations emerging from the crystal-clear sea. The waters, clear and transparent, offer shades ranging from turquoise to deep blue and are particularly appreciated by snorkellers and divers, thanks to submerged rocks, posidonia seagrass and a rich marine fauna. The landscape is framed by Mediterranean scrubland and promontories that shelter the beach, creating a tranquil and wild atmosphere. The beach gently slopes into the sea, also making it suitable for families. At sunset, the silhouette of the Aeolian Islands on the horizon enriches the view, offering a romantic and unforgettable spectacle.
