A striking sea cave on the Costa degli Dei, known for its glassy water, interior light play and an almost otherworldly atmosphere. One of the most memorable places to explore the wilder side of the sea between Tropea and Ricadi.
The Grotta dello Scheletro is one of the most distinctive sea caves on the Costa degli Dei — a small marine cavity that draws visitors for the clarity of the water, the play of light inside, and a faintly mysterious atmosphere that has made it famous. It lies along the stretch of coast between Tropea and Ricadi, in an area of real natural beauty, just before Riaci beach. The name comes from the curious effect the light has underwater: reflections turn the skin bright, almost white, which is why locals also call it Grotta Bianca ("White Cave") or Grotta del Cadavere. You reach it by sea, and it's an ideal stop for a coastal boat tour, a swim in clear water and a more adventurous side of the area.
