Vibo Marina is the maritime face of Vibo Valentia: port, quays, jetties, industrial history and fishing tradition come together in a town that lives in symbiosis with the sea.
Vibo Marina is a lively and authentic coastal locality, closely tied to the sea and port activities. The town develops around the harbour, which represents the true heart of the area. One of the most historically significant elements is the Castello di Bivona, an ancient coastal fortification. Nearby stands the area of the historic Bivona tonnara, symbol of the tuna-fishing tradition that for centuries represented a fundamental resource for the local economy. The port of Vibo Marina is characterised by quays and jetties welcoming fishing boats and pleasure craft. Walking along the port area is one of the most pleasant ways to experience the town. A particularly heartfelt community moment is the feast of the Madonna di Portosalvo, patron saint of sailors, held each year with religious celebrations and an evocative sea procession.
