Acquaro Village

Acquaro is a small village in the Calabrian Serre area, in a position that historically had a strategic role for controlling the surrounding territory. The historic centre retains a compact and orderly layout, typical of inland villages. The most significant element is the Castello di Acquaro, which dominates the village and represents its main historic testimony. The medieval structure had a defensive and control function and influenced the urban development of the settlement. The historic centre features stone and traditional masonry houses, alleyways and intimate spaces that tell of a simple and authentic way of life. Acquaro is immersed in a green and silent landscape, surrounded by hills and forests. The village is ideal for inclusion in an itinerary of the Vibonese hinterland and the Calabrian Serre, offering a lesser-known side of Calabria.
