A sanctuary immersed in the landscape, between history, devotion and silence, telling the deep bond between spirituality and the territory.
The Church of Santa Ruba stands isolated among the olive groves, along an ancient path that for centuries has led the faithful and wayfarers to a place filled with silence and meaning. It is not a monumental church but an intimate space, where the landscape becomes part of the spiritual experience. The origins of the sanctuary are ancient and linked to the Basilian monastic tradition. The structure, with a single nave and central dome, preserves an essential layout that invites to quietude and contemplation. According to popular tradition, Santa Ruba was visited in the most difficult moments, in particular during plague epidemics, when the population came here to invoke protection and healing. Oral legends have strengthened the symbolic bond between the place and the human need for comfort and hope. Today the church preserves this dual soul: historic and popular. Reaching it means coming into contact with a simple spirituality, deeply rooted in the territory and collective memory.
